THE LEADER In 'Fantastic Four'? Possible Hulk News, Too

– by Mario-Francisco Robles

In a stunning revelation, Hollywood continues to unveil its announcement that there's a shortage of actors. That's right, folks. There aren't enough actors in Hollywood anymore! How do we know? Because projects are constantly cannibalizing the same actors, many times within the same genre, and often to play the same type of role. News has broken that Tim Blake Nelson, who played eccentric scientist Samuel Sterns (aka The Leader) in The Incredible Hulk a couple of years ago- and who was signed on to play the character through future sequels- is now in final talks to play awkward scientist Harvey Elder (aka Mole Man) in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot.

THR's sources reveal that, similar to what he did in Hulk, he will be appearing as the doctor, not as his villainous alter ago- but that he'll be setting up future Mole Man appearances in the planned sequels. Nelson will be joining Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell.

Speaking of Hulk and the proposed sequels that seemingly fell off the slate once they recast the character for a third time, Lou Ferrigno told a local radio station in Minnesota that Marvel is- indeed- planning another solo film. After talking about how Ruffalo's Hulk was the "star of the movie" in the first Avengers, claiming he "saved the day," the actor said, "Now because he saved the day they're making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out."

Many have wondered if Marvel would revisit the Hulk as a solo franchise after the raucous reception to his appearance in The Avengers. It's also been a mystery if they'd pick up where Ed Norton's film ended, or if they'd start fresh (again). But with Norton's version being officially part of the MCU's canon, with Robert Downey Jr appearing at the end of it, and Ruffalo referring to that film's climax in Avengers, it's going to be interesting to see how they continue the story. Will Liv Tyler be brought back? William Hurt? With Tim Blake Nelson joining Fantastic Four that seemingly rules out his Leader being used. With Marvel teasing Iron Man's "Hulkbuster" suit last month, could a trip to Planet Hulk be on the way?

Lots to think about today, if you're a Hulk fan.

Special thanks to Dennis A, the reader that sent in the news about what Ferrigno said on the radio this morning.
