Channing Tatum is basically confirmed to be Gambit because Lauren Shuler Donner (producer of the X-Movies along Bryan Singer) loves him.
He would like to get his own solo movie before being folded into the team, I'd like him to show up sooner. Either way, Tatum looks to be committed to playing Gambit's creole roots in a much more authentic to the comics way than Taylor Kitsch's portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
He talked to LR's Dariany Santana while doing press for 22 Jump Street and suggests his Gambit will be so authentic he'd do a creole patois "Jedi mind trick" that might require subtitles.
Which sounds great, but watch for Fox to squish Tatum's ideas down to a crappy script right-quick. What? This is Fox, the X-Men are not individual characters to them.
Plus, this is what this post would look like in Creole, according to an online translator:
Channing Tatum se fondamantalman konfime yo dwe ganbi paske Lauren Shuler Donner (pwodiktè nan X-Sinema yo ansanm Bryan Singer) renmen l '. Li ta renmen resevwa pwòp fim solo li avan ke yo te ki plwaye nan ekip la, mwen ta renmen l 'nan montre moute pi bonè. Nenpòt fason, Tatum sanble yo dwe angaje nan jwe rasin kreyòl ganbi a nan yon pi plis natif natal ak wout la desine pase pentire Taylor Ponpye a nan X-Gason Orijin: glouton. Li te pale ak LR a Dariany Santana pandan y ap fè pou laprès pou 21 Ale Street ak sijere ganbi l 'la pral se konsa natif natal li ta fè yon Patwa kreyòl "Jedi tèt ou Trick" ki ta ka mande pou tradiksyon an. Ki son gwo, men gade pou Fox gargouyi lide Tatum a desann nan yon script vye dwa rapid. Ki sa? Sa a se Fox, X-Gason yo pa karaktè moun nan men yo.
Yeah, no one's putting that in front of a Summer Movie Audience.
