Exclusive: Sullivan Stapleton Goes In For 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

– by Kellvin Chavez

starwars- Being that it's October 1st, I figured I give you guys a heads up on some Star Wars: Episode VII tidbit on who else has went in to read for the upcoming sequel. This bit of information was confirmed via reps and other solid sources, so any denials would be nothing more than a smokescreen.

As for what part it’s for? I have no idea. You see, Lucasfilms/Disney and J.J. Abrams are keeping everything tight lipped ever since stuff has leaked out.

The guy that went in for a read is…

Stapleton is best known for his role in the television series Strike Back and has the lead role in the film 300: Rise of an Empire, as the Greek leader Themistocles.

Here is the kicker. I was also told that Stapleton was already talking about how he went in to read for the part and because of that, he got in a lot of trouble with his camp and from folks over at Lucasfilm. They were pretty irate with him.

My sources also said the following about some recent news about the film.

Can't really say anything more, but don't believe reports that they're not filming in New Mexico, and this IMAX thing is out of context.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be an original story and not directly based on the various novels, graphic novels, or other materials in the Star Wars Expanded Universe that take place during the post-Return of the Jedi time period. Disney aims to continue the story that began back in 1977.

The film is written by Michael Arndt, whose writing credits include Toy Story 3 and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

I will try and keep you posted with more information once I get them confirmed.

Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to hit theaters late 2015.
