Richard Johnson of The New York Post reports that actress Jessica Chastain is the first choice to play Jane in a new version of "Tarzan".
Alexander Skarsgard (HBO's True Blood) is reported to be in the running for the main role of Tarzan.
The New York Post described the plot:
"In this story, the jungle boy is fully assimilated to life in London when Queen Victoria asks him to investigate troubles in the Congo.
Samuel L. Jackson is rumored to play an ex-mercenary who helps Tarzan save the Congo from a vicious warlord."
Chastain received back-to-back Oscar nominations for a supporting role in The Help (2011) and a lead role in Zero Dark Thirty (2012). She was most recently seen as the character Annabel in the horror film, Mama released earlier this year.
The film will be directed by David Yates, who directed the final four films in the "Harry Potter" film franchise.
