Dane Cook to Take 'Planes'

– by Ruben Gonzalez

planes First, there was 2006’s enjoyable “Cars,” which had an anthropomorphic hot shot racecar learn some life lessons. This led to the sequel “Cars 2,” which shifted focus from main character Lightning McQueen to that of lovable sidekick Mater the Tow Truck. With the string of successes that has been achieved by these vehicles, now Disney’s newest project will be taking flight.

The spin-off to the “Cars” series will come from the sky in the movie “Planes.” Comedian Dane Cook has been chosen to voice the protagonist of the film, Dusty. The story centers on Dusty’s desire to become a racing plane, but unfortunately he has an adverse reaction to flying. “Planes” will also include the voice acting of Carlos Alazraqui.

Klay Hall who has a love of aviation, will come aboard to direct this high-flying spectacle. His other works are also in the field of animation as well in such cartoons as “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill.” Dane Cook brings unmatched charisma and brilliant comedic timing and instincts to the character. He gives Dusty a great edge,” says Hall.

Recently, Cook has made a TV deal with NBC Entertainment and Universal Television. He is most known for his stand-up performances which have been aired on Comedy Central and HBO. When it comes to his cinematic roles he is most known for such comedies as “Dan in Real Life,” and “Employee of the Month.” He has also tried his hand in more serious roles like “Mr. Brooks.”

“Planes” will look to take off on an August 2013 departure.
