Bryan Singer Talks X-Men and the Return of Nightcrawler?

– by Philip Sticco

3054F-1000x1000I really can't express how happy I am that Bryan Singer has returned to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past. Don't get me wrong, Matthew Vaughn did a killer job with X-Men: First Class helping the franchise to fully recover from the disaster of X-Men: The Last Stand, but if Vaughn can't (or won't) return then there's no one better than Singer. X2: X-Men United is still my favorite of the series. We all know Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence are returning, but given the time traveling/multi-verse nature of Future Past's plot, we weren't sure if anyone else would be returning. Fortunately for us Singer is also bringing back Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Anna Paquin, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page and even Shawn Ashmore, but who else could be back? Also fortunate for us, The Huffington Post was thinking the same thing and asked Singer during an interview.

Will we ever see Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler again? I don't know. We'll see. You know ... we'll see.

That sounded coy. [Laughs] Yeah, I know. I don't want to ... sometimes you don't want to say "yes" or "no" to something that may not be a "yes" or a "no," or anything. I haven't decided yet, a few things. I'm still, you know -- there are certain aspects of the script that I'm still toying with.

As a fan of that character, that at least gives me hope. [Laughs] OK.

What do you think? Do you want Cumming returning as Nightcrawler? Are there too many mutants in this flick?
