‘Item 47’ Actor Maximiliano Hernandez Reveals That He Will Fill Agent Coulson's Shoes Post-‘Avengers’

– by Matt Granados

Marvel Studios is getting into short films, and come September 25th, you'll be able to see the first in ostensibly a series of shorts to come from the studio when Item 47 will be included as a special feature on The Avengers Blu-ray/DVD.

Actor Maximiliano Hernandez co-stars in the short, and he caught up with WhatCulture! to discuss his role.

He describes his character:

"I play Agent Jasper Sitwell who in the comics was basically trained directly by Nick Fury. He’s a real comic book hero character created in the mid 60’s by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby; so it was kind of cool to play a character that really lives in the Marvel universe."

This is where it gets juicy:

"You know, he’s been around for 40-some-odd years and they gave me the shot to play his part, to sort of like, reinterpret the guy. And in the film world I’m paired up with Clarke Gregg’s character – Agent Coulson – I’m kind of like, his protégé. I guess now, because of what happened in Avengers, I’m stepping up to fill his shoes."

Does this mean that we're going to see Hernandez a.k.a. Agent Sitwell play a major role in Avengers 2?  Or how about a starring role on the just-announced S.H.I.E.L.D. series for ABC?

I can't wait to check out Item 47, if anything to see what this Agent Sitwell guy is all about.
