Fox Drops First Official Photo of Hugh Jackman in 'The Wolverine' & El Mayimbe Explains Water Manipulation Techniques

– by El Mayimbe

Fox has officially released the first still of a very jacked and vascular Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine.

He looks great for a 44 soon to be 45 year old dude and no I don't suspect any suspicious anabolic nor growth hormone activity. He has the right amount of lean mass, incredibly low bodyfat, and excellent conditioning on full display here. If anything he is using water manipulation techniques to look the way he does. Actors often use these fluid manipulation techniques before a shirtless scene or photo shoot in order to look their leanest.

Water manipulation comes from competitive bodybuilding. Bodybuilders manipulate their water intake and carb intake, then take diuretics (both herbal and/or pharmaceutical) to get rid of "water weight." The goal of this peaking procedure is to minimize subcutaneous water (just beneath the skin) while keeping the muscle as full as possible. This combination will allow a bodybuilder or actor to "pump up" before the show or photo shoot and look his best. A full muscle will "push" against the skin, and if there's no water between the muscle and skin... voilà: separated and full muscle bellies.

Fluid manipulation techniques are all the rage these days in Hollywood. Matthew Fox is another actor who used fluid manipulation to achieve his level of leaness in the upcoming Alex Cross. Ryan Reynolds in Blade Trinity is another example that comes to mind.

NOTE: You already have to be lean and sport a bodyfat in the 6%-8% percent range to successfully use fluid manipulation techniques. Jackman is notorious for keeping himself lean year round. So if you're a fat bastard in the 20%-30% range, don't even think about it, get on the treadmill!

Anyway, the official plot for The Wolverine:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

Directed by James Mangold, Fox drops The Wolverine on July 26, 2013.
