Thanos, the Mad Titan, is going to be the Loki of Marvel's Phase Two series of films. At least, that's what it's looking like, has looked like and will continue to look like for near future as James Gunn starts re-drafting the pre-existing 'Guardians of the Galaxy' script we were aware of when we broke the news 'Guardians' was Marvel's 2014 mystery movie back in June.
Besides some mis-posting of superhero teams on that actual post (look, we all know more about the Guardians now than we did then!), it's interesting to note that, yes, Thanos was in 'Guardians' at that time, and he still is now. Much like Loki served as a more nuanced villain in 'Avengers' because we got to see his motivations in 'Thor,' so Thanos will get some backstory in 'Guardians' before he has to face off against Marvel's A-List of heroes.
Confirmation of Thanos' appearance in both 'Guardians' and 'Avengers 2' comes by Comic Book News regular Armand Rock who got Jim Starlin, the Thanos and Adam Warlock creator and rights holder, to confirm that the Mad Titan will be in both Marvel Phase Two movies.
The story here is the excellent actual reporting done by Mr. Rock and Comic Book News, not that Thanos will be in both because - yeah - we've been saying that for a whole quarter of a year already. But you know how I'm a big fan of actual reporting when it comes to comics properties, so big props to them for getting the work done and -
- they're right that the big question mark now rests on Adam Warlock and The Magus.
