Michael Keaton Takes Hugh Laurie's Part in 'RoboCop'

– by Da7e

The 'RoboCop' remake is gearing up to start shooting with Jose Padilha directing Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and New-Murphy Joel Kinnaman.

The CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes RoboCop is named Ryamond Sellers and was supposed to be played by Hugh Laurie up until the House M.D. actor dropped out last week.

Amid rumors that Padilha is fighting the studio for every decision and a series of tweets suggesting the script might not be very good, Deadline says MGM/Columbia has picked up Michael Keaton, Tim Burton's cinematic Batman, to take the lead villain role.

Which is awesome, because Michael Keaton needs to be in more movies.

RoboCop hits August 9, 2013.
