Jackie Earl Haley Is Joining 'Robocop'

– by Philip Sticco

Jackie Earl Haley is signing on for the Robocop remake.

In the film Haley will play Maddox. He's the dude who gives Robocop his military training. Why they can't just program the training into Robocop's hard drive is beyond me, but Haley is a good actor so who cares?

Haley will join Joel Kinnaman as Robocop, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Hugh Laurie in the film. Jose Padilha is directing.

Remember when Haley was best known as Kelly in The Bad News Bears? Now when I think of him I think of Rorschach from Watchmen. His career has certainly rebounded in recent years. I think that's due to Little Children, which is basically his second breakthrough performance. He was great in it and it elevated him to a higher tier of acting. Since then he's turned in some great performances, even if the movies weren't that great.

What are your feelings on Robocop? It's unnecessary, as are most remakes, but this is a damn good cast.
