Steve Coogan Will Add His Voice to 'Despicable Me 2'

– by Philip Sticco

Steve Coogan has joined the cast of Despicable Me 2, or whatever they end up calling it. He will join returning cast members Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove. Al Pacino has signed on to voice the villain.

Normally I'd be excited to see Pacino in anything, even if it's just his voice, but in recent years his choice in roles hasn't exactly been reliable.
(Cough) Jack & Jill (Cough).
I never saw Despicable Me, but from what I've heard it isn't bad. What I have seen is Hamlet 2.
If you're not familiar with Hamlet 2 do yourself a favor and change that immediately. In it Steve Coogan plays a failed actor who is teaching drama at a high school in Tucson, AZ. To reinvigorate the theatre program he decides to have the class put on a play he wrote, a sequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet. The movie was written by South Park alum Pam Brady and Andrew Fleming, who also directed. It's absurd, offensive and hysterical.
