Vince Vaughn to Star in Tony Scott's 'Lucky Strike'?

– by Philip Sticco

Vince Vaughn, action star? Tony Scott certainly thinks so.

Scott is close to making Lucky Strike his next film. if he does he'll most likely have Vince Vaughn in the lead. Strike is described as an action movie about a DEA agent who teams up with a drug dealer to take down a cartel.

This will be Scott's first film since he directed Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. If all goes as planned the Henry Bean scripted film will start shooting this summer with a budget of $80 million.

It's unclear which role Vaughn will play, but either way it will be a change of pace for the actor who has stuck mostly to comedies lately. With Vaughn in this role it makes me wonder if this is going to be a buddy style action film with Vaughn playing the wise ass to someone else's straight man. Scott has gone the action comedy route before with Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II, but hasn't really taken that path lately. I'd like to see Vaughn stretch a bit and take on a darker character.

With Tony Scott directing one thing is for sure, the action will be intense.

Do you see Vaughn as an action film actor? The closest I remember him getting to that type of role was The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but there he mostly ran away from things instead of jumping into the fray.
